
Bassist CHRIS VAN VOORST VAN BEEST was born in Pownal, ME. He began playing bass his senior year of high school and studied jazz at both the University of New Hampshire and William Paterson College. He quickly became an in demand player on the east Coast music scene and played consistently in bands at the famous Boston jazz clubs the Wonder Bar and Wally's. After graduating college and performing in the New England area, Chris moved to Brooklyn, New York where he is much in demand in the jazz, new music, rock and songwriting scenes. He has recorded and performed with a wide range of great musicians including Joe Lovano, Walter smith, and Gabriel kahane. Lately, Chris has been touring and recording with the Danny Fox trio and is also recording a book of chamber music set to a children's story called 'The Lamplighter'.
