Tweets and Expandable Text

This is an example of how the Jazz Fest twitter feed could be integrated into the site. In this example, they show up in the left sidebar, but we could also configure so that they show up in the main content area (i.e. where this text is now), or somewhere else on the page. This is a very basic module, and we may end up using a more advanced module, i.e. one that could combine tweets from the twitter account with status updates from the facebook page, as well as providing better styling options: I have some more experimenting to do. Or we may end up not having tweets (or facebook updates) integrated into the site at all, beyond having the icons that link to the external Twitter/FB pages.

Note: The reason I'm using FreeDarko twitter feed is that, with this module, tweets have to be relatively recent in order to show up on the page. So, because the Jazz Fest twitter feed has been inactive for a while, none of the (old) tweets show up. If/when you started tweeting regularly, that would cease to be a problem.

Something else to think about: if we decide to do this, on what page(s) would you want the tweets to show up: on every page? the front page only? some combination? Changing the configuration is very fast and easy, so we can always experiment and change things later.

This page also demonstrates the 'expandable text' functionality- the ability to split up long sections of text and hides the second part unless the user clicks to view it.We may want to use this for individual Artist pages, in cases where there is a very long biography and we only want to display part of it on the initial page load. If we do this, the easiest way would be for you to add all the full length bios as you normally would, and then I can go back through and split them up. So it's not something we need to decide now: we can both start add/editing content, then if we want to split up the bio content, I can go back and make it happen. Anyway, here's how it would look:

Guitarist Ryan Blotnick has been called "a vital contemporary voice" by Time Out New York, "an authentic, compelling player" by Cadence Magazine, and has garnered praise from guitarists John Abercrombie, Steve Cardenas and Ben Monder.  Deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, but always listening for new sounds and trends in improvised music, Blotnick has drawn together the American and European jazz scenes. His debut album "Music Needs You" was recorded in Spain, and his upcoming release "Everything Forgets" will feature drum master Jeff Williams (of Stan Getz, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, etc.), Joachim Badenhorst (of the Han Benink Trio), and the Irish bassist Simon Jermyn.
